The people at the local public radio station have been recording “This I believe” essays from people in the area. Today’s essay is from Sensei Tony from the Blue Mountain Lotus Society, which is a Zen Buddhist group in Harrisburg.
Sensei Tony tells a story about an experience he had ministering to an ex-prisoner in a half way house.
You can download the audio (6 minute, 4MB mp3 file).
I’ve been meaning to go over to the BMLS to meditate, but I keep chickening out. Zen teachers are sometimes very scary.
Now that I’ve heard Sensei Tony’s voice, maybe I’ll give the BMLS a go. He doesn’t sound too scary.
