Don’t be a loser and miss the first ever Pennsylvania Bike Summit!
It’s Tuesday morning, so call in sick, or skip school, or sell your children, or do whatever you need to do to be there!
We’re meeting at the Farm Show Building at 8:30AM and riding to the Capitol from there.
If we’re lucky, Gov. Rendell will come outside to demonstrate his “mad p-far skillz.”
One of the original suggestions, as you already know, was to have people show up at the Capitol in little bikey groups coming from here and there. Then someone said “Let’s all meet in one place” and that one place has now said “If you’re going to meet here you have to have a police escort.” I hope it works, but I still think shutting down streets so that the bicycle parade can get to the Capitol is a bad way to advocate for cyclists’ rights. I originally planned to go, but I’m not participating in anything that requires a police escort.
Hmm. I didn’t know we were going to have a police escort. That is kind of stupid. I don’t believe in letting the perfect be the enemy of the good, though.
Plus, I think it will be fun.
It would be more fun if we got the critical mass crowd to crash their parade. 😉
I’ll be there, but yeah, the police escort is a little over the top, unless they’re bringing out a huge crowd…
