My Cat

Happy Birthday, Cringer!

When Brandi and I found Cringer, he was living under a pile of carboard boxes waiting to be recycled. This pile was right next door to a massive construction site.

When we took him to the vet, they found chemical burns in his throat and on all four paws. Apparently, he had gotten into some of the chemicals being used on the site. The other thing the vet told us is that he was about 8 weeks old. That would make today his first birthday. (It will be very easy to remember, because it’s exactly 2 months before MY birthday).

His paws and throat have since healed, though he still can’t meow as loud as Wista, though he does try. Check out his attempt at a roar.
Cringer Roars

Wista doesn’t enjoy having her nap interrupted.

Big Kitties

My cats are officially all grown up. They ate the last of the kitten food, and now it’s on to grown-up cat food. I commemorated the occasion with a (out of focus) photo.

My babies are all grown up now *snif* :-(

Bad Dog!

I was upstate today to visit family, but I brought the trek along. I wanted to get a feel for the new bars before I wrapped them.It was pretty warm out (above freezing anyhow), and I didn’t think to bring gloves along. About a half mile into the trip, a big, nasty Rottweiler(I think) decided to come running after me. He didn’t look too friendly, so I clicked up a few cogs, stood up, and prepared to flee.My bike made a strange noise and didn’t want to go…

In my haste, I had somehow managed to tear the rear wheel out of the drop outs. I didn’t wreck though. The dog stopped at the edge of his yard, and continued to bark at me while I got the rear wheel tightened back up.

I continued on my way, but bare aluminum with no gloves is EVIL cold. I decided to cut the ride (extremely) short and went inside to get warmed up.

I only rode for 20 minutes, but so far I LOVE the noodle bars. Very comfy. The only problem is since I got the 48cm version and jacked them up a bit, there’s not enough brake cable to wrap them. So, now I need to get new brake cable and housing for the left bar.

There is still no computer on the Trek, so these stats are from the GPS:

Total Distance: 3.63 miles
Moving Time: 00:23:46
Stopped: 00:4:59
Max Speed: 19.1mph
Moving Average: 9.2mph
Overall Average: 7.6

Here is what happens if you track your bike with GPS and import it into Topo USA 5.0

Public Shaming of the Cats

I didn’t get a chance to do my ride today, Wednesdays just aren’t working out. Just to give you something to read, yesterday, when i came home from work, there was a mouse in a mousetrap in my apartment.

I live in a small apartment with 2 cats. There should be no excuse for mice. My cats, however, are rather feebleminded, and would rather goof off, and screw around with the fish tank than do the one and only job that people domesticated cats for in the first place.

So, In light of thier negligence, I am posting humiliating pictures of thier fish-tank shenanigans, in hopes of publicly shaming them into doing thier jobs.

Cringer gets a little sister

Always two there are, no more, no less: a master and an apprentice.

Cringer gets lonely when Brandi and I are at work all day, so we went to the animal shelter, and picked out a sister for him, so he’d have someone to play with.
She was a stray, too.

I thought she looked like an Ewok, so we named her Wista. For those of you who don’t know your Star Wars lore, Wista was the younger sister of Wicket, the famous Ewok from Return of the Jedi.
